Fresno Bird Count

Winter Count

Dec 15th - Jan 31st

The Fresno Bird Count (FBC) is a citizen science project dedicated to mapping the distribution of the City’s bird populations. The project is a joint effort of both local bird enthusiasts and the Reconciliation Ecology lab at California State University-Fresno.

In addition to breeding season counts, we are now conducting winter counts to document winter migrants living in the city. The FBC needs volunteers who can spend at least one morning of their choice, between December 15th - January 31st, counting birds at selected locations using a standard protocol. If you are an active bird-watcher in this area, looking to lend your skills towards some active science and conservation efforts, and have some time available this winter, do check out the participation link (at the top of this page) on this website, and join our project by sending your email and contact information to [email protected] or [email protected].

If you wish to keep up with the project, we invite you to join us on Facebook and become a fan of Fresno Birds.
